I love fresh artichokes and steaming them is an easy way to prepare these healthy green vegetables. They are full of flavor and offer so many key benefits. Give them a try.
Place a steamer basket in a large pot and fill with water until just under the basket level.
Use a serrated knife to cut the bottom stem and ½ inch off of the top of each artichoke. Add artichokes to the steamer basket and set to boil over medium high heat.

Cover the pot.
Steam for 25-45 minutes depending on the size and number of artichokes. Artichokes are ready when leaves pull off the stem easily.
When done, remove from the heat. Let the artichokes stand for 5 or more minutes or until the leaves have cooled enought to eat. Serve with hot garlic butter, mayonnaise or preferred condiment. Enjoy!
