This Indian spiced tea, better known as chai, is a real gem of a recipe. The spices complement the tea and make for a delicious hot or cold drink. You can use any milk that you prefer and it only enhances the flavor. Give it a try!
Equipment
- 1 large pitcher
Ingredients
- 3 cups water
- 3 cups milk or milk alternative
- 8-10 bags black tea or decaffeinated black tea
- ½ cup honey
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp ground clove
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- pinch black pepper
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring milk and water to a boil.3 cups water, 3 cups milk
- Add in tea bags, honey, and spices and bring to a boil.8-10 bags black tea, ½ cup honey, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 tsp ground cardamom, ½ tsp ground nutmeg, ½ tsp ground clove, ½ tsp ground ginger, pinch black pepper
- Turn off heat and let the tea steep for up to 5 minutes.
- Remove tea bags, and pour the liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher.
- You can sprinkle some cinnamon on top for garnish. Serve this tea hot or cold and enjoy!
