Basil Pesto Sauce
Making basil pesto sauce is super simple and it really amps up the taste of all sorts of Italian dishes. You can drizzle it over Farfalle, Rotini, Fusilli, Bow tie pasta, or Spaghetti. Or add a little scoop of pesto to boost the flavor of chicken, salmon, green beans, or red peppers. You can even use it as a pizza sauce. Either way you use it, you can’t go wrong. Basil Pesto

- ⅓ cup pine nuts
- 3 cups basil prewashed
- 1 clove garlic
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup parmesan cheese grated
- ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- Toast the pine nuts in a dry skillet for 5 minutes or until lightly brown. Let cool.⅓ cup pine nuts
- Place the nuts into the food processor and finely crush.
- Add the garlic and salt into the food processor and blend to make a fine paste.1 clove garlic, ¼ tsp salt
- Add in the washed basil leaves and blend until all ingredients are mixed together.3 cups basil
- Slowly add in the parmesan cheese and oil, a little at a time while mixing.½ cup parmesan cheese, ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
- Serve on cooked pasta, as a pizza sauce, or spread over bread. Enjoy!
