Mom’s Baked Beans
My mom's baked beans recipe is an alternative spin to the traditional recipe. The flavors work so well together and it's a delicious side dish when grilling. Give it a try and let's get cooking!

Ingredients
- 1 16 oz can of kidney beans undrained
- 1 16 oz can of pork and beans undrained
- 1 16 oz can of pinto beans undrained
- 1 15 ½ oz can of french style beans drained
- 1 green pepper deseeded and chopped
- 1 ½ lbs bacon cut into ¼ pieces
- 2 onions chopped
- 1 12 oz bottle chili sauce
- 3/4 c brown sugar
Instructions
- Coat a frying pan with non stick cooking spray and warm on medium heat. Add in bacon and cook the bacon until the bottom is browned and crisp, about 4-6 minutes. Use tongs to stir the bacon periodically and ensure all sides are crispy.1 ½ lbs bacon
- In the same pan, add the onions and green pepper and cook until the onion pieces are golden in color and the green pepper pieces are softened, about 5 minutes. When done, turn off the heat and set the onions and peppers aside.2 onions, 1 green pepper
- In a slow cooker, add in all of the ingredients, including the cooked bacon, onions and green pepper. Set the slow cooker to low and allow to cook for 6 hours.
